Hospital Bag Essentials

After having 2 babies I feeling like I have finally nailed down my true mama must have’s for delivery at the hospital! I have found that I love to have a few comfort items from home, like my own pillow/blanket, a soft towel (the hospital ones are the worst!), and my own water bottle! My favorite Stanley for the hospital linked here! And some flip-flops/sandals that can be used in the shower. My favorite comfy cloud sandals for this can be found here. Most of these items will be provided for you so you do not have to be prepared with those. However, I did find that they made my stay more comfortable and enjoyable!

  1. Weekender Bag: This bag is the perfect bag for the hospital! It has so many different compartments so you can easily organize and I love that it has a separate shoe compartment, that way you can keep those hospital floor germs separate from all the rest of your items!

  2. Battery Powered Nightlight: I did not have this when I had my first, but took it with me to the hospital for my second and it was a GAME CHANGER!! It is battery powered so it doesn’t have to constantly be plugged in. Turns on with a tap. And is dimmable!! I would use it for feedings so I didn’t have to fully turn on the lights and I used it when the nurses would come in, in the middle of the night! All my nurses said it was such a genius item to have!

  3. Button Down Bamboo PJ’s: I have so many pairs of these Pj’s! They are buttery soft, cute and the button down option is a must if you plan on nursing! They come in so many good colors!

  4. Heating Pad: Those after birth cramps are the worst and having a heating pad makes the biggest difference on how badly they affect you! This is my favorite heating pad as it’s big enough to have under your back and wrapped around to your abdomen! On deal for 25% off!

  5. Earth Mama Nipple Butter: They will provide you with lanolin at the hospital but I much prefer this earth mama nipple butter that has way cleaner ingredients and in my opinion works better!

  6. Frida Mom Postpartum Essentials: I bought this exact kit for my last baby and loved that it was literally everything I needed. The peri bottle itself (linked here if it’s all you need) is amazing because it instantly sprays upward making it ten times easier than what they provide for you! I used every single item in this kit. Just the ice packs themselves were worth it! Come’s with disposable undies, perineal foam and cooling pad liners.

  7. Slippers: Slippers with a hard bottom and so important for your hospital stay! You want to make sure they are decently support and non-slip! These are perfect for walking the halls with baby and will stay nicely on your feet!

  8. Silver Nipple Shields: If you plan to breast feed.. Just trust me, do yourself a favor a grab these asap. Your nipples are going to be sore and sensitive the first bit. Especially when in the hospital and everything is new and oversensitive. These silver shields protect your nipples from friction in your bra and have a cooling to them that really make all the difference in how your breastfeeding journey goes!

  9. Compression Socks: With my two other babes I have gotten the worst swollen legs and feet from all the fluids they have you on so, I am coming extra prepared with these bad boys this time and love that the colors are cute!

  10. Portable Fan: I am so excited to have this rechargeable fan with me for delivery this go around! I had terrible hot flashes during my last delivery so this will be so nice to have! Plus the moldable stand is so great because it can be easily placed on the bars of the hospital bed and positioned just right!

  11. Nursing Bra: I got this nursing bra a few weeks ago and have been wearing it ever since! It is amazingly comfortable, comes with extenders for the back and the straps for the perfect fit!

  12. My Favorite Portable Charger: I know we are constantly sharing this portable charger but it’s only because it’s that amazing! Having a portable charger will be the best thing ever at the hospital! This way you aren’t attached to a cord/wall. This charger has THREE different charging ports that are attached to it and it hold 2 full charges! Currently 43% off with a 20% off coupon!

  13. See-through Organizing Pouches: These pouches are amazing for any toiletry items and keeping things separated and organized! I love that they are clear so you can easily see what is in each one!

Other mama items to remember- hair ties, toiletries (lotion, dry shampoo, make-up wipes), nail file, chapstick.

Top 3 Must Haves For Baby

Noodle and Boo Wash and Lotion: This scent is so nostalgic and I love having this set so my baby can smell exactly how I want right off the bat in the hospital! This travel set is perfect for the hospital and will put you straight into newborn heaven!

Portable Sound Machine: This is honestly great for both you and baby but is so nice for when you are trying to get every ounce of sleep and helps drown out the other noises in the hospital!

Going Home Outfit: These newborn set are so soft and actually fit your newborn! I love that they come as a 2 piece for each diaper changes, have fold over mittens on the hands and buttons for easy skin to skin access!

Other favorites for baby- cute swaddle, favorite pacifiers, cute stuffed animal for pics, kimono onsies that button for easy skin to skin and diaper changes! My favorites linked here, actually fit your newborn which I love!

Top 3 Must Haves For Dad

Extra Long Phone Cord: You never know where the closes plug is going to be in the hospital rooms. Bring an extra long cord for both of you so it isn’t and issue!

Instax Camera: My husband only has two jobs.. Be my cheerleader and get some cute pics! My friend recently had a baby and took a instax camera with her and I instantly knew I would be doing the same. I love having an image I can actually hold that is not on my phone!

Amazon Fire Stick: My last baby was a Covid lock down babe and our Amazon fire stick was the best thing ever to have since we could never leave the room! We love having a show to watch together or he can throw whatever he wants on the tv!

Other favorites for dad- gum, snacks he actually likes, pillow, water bottle, comfy casual button down for easy skin to skin for dad!
